| Summarized Areas of Specialization |
Knowledge-Based Expert Systems
Conducting research to explore the potential uses of artificial intelligence (AI) and knowledge-based expert systems as non-numerical computing tools for engineering design, analysis, and
control. Primary focus is on the design and application of knowledge-based expert systems for
fault diagnosis, real-time process supervision and control in CIM systems.
Integrated Production Systems
Research focuses primarily on the integration of automated production functions notably:
aggregate production planning, inventory control, materials requirement planning, capacity
planning, scheduling and maintenance. The desired goal rests on how the various decision-making techniques are employed to achieve efficient utilization of constrained resources.
Methods Engineering and Work Measurement
Involved in the productivity improvement aspect of methods design and the determination of
standards for performing specific tasks including wage incentive programs.
Engineering Economic Analysis
Engaged in the examination of economic analysis of potential system design alternatives and
the development of cost estimates whenever a new production/technology is contemplated.
Systems Simulation
Expertise in computer simulation modeling of large-scale systems involving the design and the
development of mathematical-logical model of a system and conducting experiments with this
model on a digital computer
Artificial Neural Networks
Intelligent modeling of data mining applications using principles and techniques of artificial
neural networks.
