Chemical Technologist

Performed analytical testing for determination of potency of compounded pharmaceuticals.  Tests primarily involved UV-Vis and HPLC.  Duties included extracting samples, setting up the machines, initializing the runs, data interpretation and reporting the results.  Routinely corresponded with customers to discuss results and conditions of samples and directed special projects, designed to increase lab efficiency.

NGRREC Intern

Performed a research project with the guidance of an advisor on an invasive reed grass.  Made various stock solutions, for extraction and staining of isozymes, developed protocol for electrophoresis and did various field sampling and soil measurements. Presented the results to fellow interns, advisors, and sponsors in a consortium. 

 

November 2007 – April 2010            Prairie Farms Dairy           Carlinville, IL

Lab Technician Assistant

Responsible for a variety of milk testing on raw and pasteurized samples including fat ranges, bacterial counts, and sediments.  Also performed antibiotic testing on raw samples and contacted farmers daily with results.  Lab duties included sterilizing, checking instrument accuracy, making buffer or detergent solutions, working with company computer system entering and retrieving information for producers.
