Our first view was of the Amphitheatre peak. At its foot is the Royal Natal National Park Hotel, where we thought we might stay. It was closed for renovation. In the foreground lies a Zulu village.

Next we stopped at Hlahlanathi, a family resort just outside the National Park. We were given a self-catering chalet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms for $24.
