Giant’s Castle

The next day we made our way south to Giant’s Castle. It is also a Natal Parks Board resort, recently renovated. It is the site of Main Cave, one of the three locations of San Rock Art in the region.

The view from our balcony. The path to Main Cave passes just below our balcony and follows the river, off into the distance. Then you cross the river and climb up to the overhang. What you cannot see are the hundreds of varieties of wild flowers that were all over the hills, every color imaginable. Most of them were the size of a small button.

We had to wait outside the entrance to Main Cave for the guide to unlock the gate and let us in. The gate is only unlocked on the hour and we arrived at 2:05.

Looking down at a family of baboons. Wondering how I was going to make the trek back. This was after my fall. You can barely make out my soaked backside.

A view from our side balcony. We were the second-highest chalet in the camp. I believe we had the best view.

I believe this picture was taken moments before the photographer stabbed himself with the Swiss army knife.
