Linus Torvalds

Software Engineer

Linux Foundation

I chose Linus Torvalds because he is the leader of the Linux kernel development.  Mr. Torvalds started with a goal to create a new kernel Operating System.  His vision has now turned into a prominent Open Source Operating System that is used by many hobbyists and is being developed and deployed in places from developing countries to large organizations that are looking for a cheap and versatile Operating System.

Dear Mr. Torvalds,

My name is Dan Cleinmark and I am a freshman at SIUe.  I was wondering if you could take the time to answer a few questions for me.  First, what type of degree did you receive in college?  Second, how did you start the Linux project?  Also, do you have any advice for someone graduating with a Computer Management degree entering the technology field?  Thank you very much for your time and any response or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Dan Cleinmark
