October 22: We will take a look at "Growing Up Digital: How the Web Changes Work, Education, and the Ways People Learn." This article is by John Seely Brown, the chief scientist of Xerox.
November 5: A "visit" with the words of Lee S. Schulman of The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. This session will be led by Associate Provost David Sill.
November 26: "Making the Most of College: Students Speak Their Minds" by Richard J. Light. This session will include a special SIUE student panel, which will lend its views on current campus experience.

Technology-Assisted Learning"

This seminar/workshop will put into participants' hands seven direct assessments of student learning that are suitable for use in both face-to-face and the technology-assisted programs. Results can be used to improve course delivery and to support the Scholarship of Teaching for a professor's promotion, merit and tenure candidacy. Several handouts will be provided.
Douglas Eder has served as an assessment consultant to the four-state Midwest Technology and Teaching Association, has assisted with establishing academic standards for the Michigan Virtual University, and is a regular contributor to "Web Corner" of the journal Assessment Updates. He is steward of SIUE's assessment program.

Lisa holds an MFA in acting from the University of California, Irvine, and has been with SIUE since 1998. She is the director of University Theater's most recent production, "A Raisin in the Sun."
Kevin has been a speech communications faculty member at SIUE since 1979. He received his PhD in speech communications and human relations from the University of Kansas, and has more than 25 years experience in teaching public speaking.
