• Software Development - CS 325

  I worked in a team of 4 to create a simple video game combat engine. We used an agile development methodolgy comprised of 3-week sprints, and created documentation such as a requirements list, sequence diagrams, class diagrams, and sprint reports.

• Human-Computer Interaction Design - CS 321

  I worked in a team of 3 to create a web-based trading card library and creator. The project was comprised of 8 phases, including interviews, work models, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes, and usability testing. We gave a final presentation demonstrating the full implementation and usability statistics.

• Game Design, Development & Technology - CS 382

  I developed a handful of small demos using Unreal Engine 4. I aslo programmed collision detection, pathing AI, and flocking AI using C++ and OpenGL.

Target

I worked as an Electronics Team Member at the Alton Target store from August 2013 to March 2016. I provided customer service, answering any questions a guest might have about our electronics selection. I also answered phone calls, helped guests navigate the store, and even trained new team members.

SIUE Campus Recreation

I’ve been providing SIUE Campus Recreation with Technical Support since February 2015. Other than general hardware and software troubleshooting, I also set up events using microphones, speakers, projectors, etc. I manage the internal department database, adding in new program, event, and equipment listings whenever needed. Finally, I update the department website using HTML and CSS. When I do have downtime, I like to develop software tools for internal staff use. It’s not in the job description, but I enjoy it! (You can see them listed in the Projects section below)

Edwardsville YMCA

I’ve been working as a Member Services Team Member at the Edwardsville YMCA since June 2017. I help customers with any questions regarding programs and memberships. I act as a receptionist, greeting guests, helping patrons with any questions regarding programs and memberships, and answering and transferring phone calls. I sign guests up for memberships and process their payments and paperwork. When requested, I even give tours of our facility.

Thinkpiece Research

I just started working as a Web Developer at Thinkpiece Research in November 2017. Thinkpiece is a marketing research startup out of Batavia, IL that focuses on qualitative research. They have hired me to develop their homepage during their upcoming rebranding.

• Project Vector

  In my freshman year of college, I designed an application that I called Project Vector. The application was meant to be used with a home theater PC, and would present a clean interface to launch entertainment applications (like Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, etc.), emulated games (powered by the Dolphin emulator), and Steam Big Picture. While I completed the visual design, I didn't have the skills at the time to fully implement it. I plan on restarting development sometime in the near future.

• CREC Inventory Tool

  At my job at SIUE Campus Recreation, I had the task of auditing the sales inventory once a month and entering the numbers into our department software, but that aspect of the software handled it poorly, and was just a bad fit for our process. I took it upon myself to build an Access database and C# program to manage the inventory on my terms. I conducted multiple meetings with supervisors and staff to ensure that the program was easy to follow and provided all of the proper functionality.

• CREC Scheduling Tool

  After developing the Inventory Tool for CREC, I was requested to create a staff scheduling application. This program is still under development, but I designed a low-fidelity prototype to demontratete the interface to my supervisors.

• Early Unity Demos

  I first stated experimenting with Unity developemnt in high school. I created a few small environmental projects so I could get a feel for world-building - the aspect of game-development that interests me the most. While these early demos are by no means impressive, they gave me my first exposure to game developement - an exposure that has been very influential.

• CS 382 Projects

  One of my favorite college courses has been CS 382 - Game Design, Development & Technology. In that class, I developed a number of small projects in Unreal that showed off materials, particles, lighting, culling, AI, and more! Later in the course, we developed using C++ and OpenGL, programming collision detection, pathing AI, and flocking AI.

  Project Outset is a personal video game project I've been working on for nearly a year. • B. Frank

This is the moniker I publish all of my own music under. I mostly use the "b. frank" platform as place to show off my acoustic music, but I also use it to explore new musical concepts from time to time.

• Prescription Cigarettes

Also referred to as "RxC," Prescription Cigarettes is my first endevor into creating music with a band. I am the lead vocalist, and also play guitar/bass during live preformances. We wrote an album within a few months after forming, and within a year we recorded an 8-track EP and released it on Spotify, iTunes, etc. We loosly define our genre as "post punk."

I started this project with my younger brother, Andrew. We rely on acoustic instumentation, with a touch of ambience and a pop structure. Our goal is to make something catchy, yet profound.

• Kindergarten Welcome Video

  As a part of my independent study of advanced multimedia in high school, a few students and I were tasked with creating a video for the school district. The video was to be shown at the orientation for parents of incoming kindergartners. We spent a few days at an elemtery school sitting in on classes to film, as well as conducting interviews with teachers and students. After filming, I led the editting of the project. After its showing, we recieved very positive feedback from the district.

• Senior Film Trailer

  My final project in my advanced multimedia independant study was creating the trailer for the "Senior Film," a collage of footage taken throughout our senior year of high school. I led the editting of this trailer, which was shown at our graduation ceremony. After graduation, I volunteered a few weeks in the summer to help edit the full film, though it wasn't finished until autumn.

• Conscious in the Cold

  This video project was a collaboration between myself and my friend Zachary Shaw. Zach, a journalist and short story writer, put together a piece about the lives of the homeless during the cold of winter. We spent a frigid day traveling around our home town of Alton, filming shots of grimy and weathered scenes. I led the direction and camerawork, while Zach handled the writing and editing.
