FbINTRODUCTION
To B.
Not to B.
Tough decision.
I read recently that the concept of control is fictitious.
It’s just something that we create to make us feel _etter.
I shared a _ottle of wine with friends the other day.
It was _ad wine, _ut we drank it anyway.
We talked a_out the world.
We talked a_out religion.
We talked a_out the people we knew.
We talked a_out us and the way we think.
When I say “think,” I don’t just mean our conscious thoughts.
I’m talking a_out the unconscious perspectives that frame it all.
This includes our notions of control.
We do not receive the world around us passively.
Rather, we actively interpret it. I don’t remem_er where I read that, _ut it is certainly true!
_ut what if something a_out that interpretation were wrong?
What if we really weren’t in control of it all?
Your _rain could pro_a_ly make a _illion transactions in a matter of seconds.
What if something in the middle of that process that made every thought a _it skewed?
What if your _rain starting skipping a letter every so often?
Say, the letter _?
What if you realize it’s _een that way for as long as you can remem_er?
Would you still _e a_le to understand the world around you?
Would you _e a_le to express your ideas that were inside of you?
Sure, you could get _y alright.
It doesn’t undo the past.
It doesn’t necessarily put you on a new path in the future.
Really, the only thing that would change is your sense of control.
Not having _ doesn’t mean that you lack anything at all.
You do not lack _eauty.
You do not lack _rilliance.
You do not lack _raun.
You do not lack a_ility.
You do not lack anything of value.
Why?
_ecause these things do not come from the external world you interpret.
They come from within you.
They are there all along.
It does not take a _ to make _eauty.
It does not take a _ to make _rilliance.
It does not take a _ to make _raun.
In fact, _ has very little to do with you’re a_ilities.
It’s not a_out _.
It’s all
Not _ad for a five _uck _ottle of _ooze!
I feel that I need to make a _rief point of Political Science here.
Think of your civil li_erties the same way.
You have these li_erties _ecause you are a human _eing living on the face of this planet.
John Locke calls these your “natural rights.”
Government does not give them to you.
To the contrary, the Constitution states that government cannot take them away!
In fact, social contract theory would tell us that the sole purpose of government is to protect what is already within us.
Wow.
Government is really in place to serve YOU.
Once again,
it’s all
