The reason I chose Mr. DeMichael is because he has made his success as a hometown banker.  He has been in the banking business for many years; and has had great success with it.  He is now the Vice President of a large bank in Taylorville, Illinois.  If I decide against law school this is the area I want to get into.

Dear Mr. DeMichael;

            My name is Adam Sims.  I am a freshman at SIUe studying finance.  I plan to get my finance degree in four years and then go to law school.  Since you are in my area of study, I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have about it?  First, I am interested in the different jobs an individual can get right out of college with a finance degree.  Secondly, I was interested in knowing the base salary of an employee fresh out of college.  Also, I was wondering the degree you received in college to be a president of a bank.  These are some questions I have that would be a great help if you could respond to them.  Thank you very much for your time in reading this.

Sincerely,

Adam Sims

Dear Adam:

            I am in receipt of your request for information regarding my position and experience in the finance field.  I have been Vice President of First National Bank of Pana at the Taylorville Branch for almost 5 years.  Prior to that I was employed at another bank as Vice President for over 25 years.   I see you are interested in obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.   I have an Economics Degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.  I have been in banking my entire adult life after graduating from college.   A person with a finance degree has many opportunities for employment.   As far as the banking profession, there are many opportunities to become a financial analyst and a personal financial advisor.  Financial advisors provide analysis and guidance to businesses and individuals to help them with their investment decisions.  With a degree in finance you would have the ability to gather financial information, analyze it and make recommendations to our clients.  This is a field that is in high demand right now as I see it.    We have an investment banking department at our bank.  We also have a personal financial advisor or financial planner at our bank who use their knowledge of investments, tax laws, and insurance to recommend financial options to our clients.  They do a lot of estate planning, retirement, funding for college and general investment options.

            My guess as far as salary right out of college would be around $50,000 to $60,000 per year.  I think the need for financial advisors and analysts is only going to increase in the near future.

            If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Michael DeMichael
