Hello, my name in Tony Ballard. I was married
to my beautiful wife, Amanda, on July 25, 2009 and we are currently
expecting our first child.
I am a 2009 graduate of
Southern
Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) with a degree in Historical Studies.
The area in which I specialized in were Renaissance Europe and the United
States during World War II. While at SIUE, I lived in Prarie and Bluff
Halls during my first two and a half years. During my last year in the
dorms I was part of the Bluff Hall Student Council. My responsibilites
included the promotion of intramural athletics and helping organize campus
events. Some of the most sucessful event that I was involved in were
Box City, Tunnel of Oppression, and the museum trip to New Orleans.
Currently, I am in my observation stage for the
Master's
of Arts in Teaching program at SIUE.
I am a 2002 graduate of
O'Fallon Township High
School (OTHS) in O'Fallon, IL. While at OTHS I was a three year
varsity starter for the football team. I was listed in the 2001-2002
publican of
Gridiron Greats and
Who's
Who Among American High School Athletes. That experience help
me be recruited and eventually accept a football scholarship from
Culver-Stockton
College in Canton, MO. While at Culver-Stockton, I realized that
that playing football was not doing well for my academics and I decided to
come home and attend SIUE. After about a year away from the game, I
became involved with a small group of guys who created the
SIUE Club Football Team. It was not as demanding as Culver-Stockton
and I was able to balance my academics with athletics. In 2005 we played
our first game. I played for the team until an injury in 2008 forced
me to retire. For the 2009 season I came back to the team, not as a
player, but as the defensive coordinator. I still try to stay involved
as much as possible with the team, but graduate school takes up a large chunk
of my time.
