Step 1:  Each team member will choose a role from the four provided.   


Step 2: Each role represents a different perspective about manatees and their conservation. 


    A) Biologist/Researcher: Researches causes of   endangerment, including natural and man made causes.

    B) Care Taker: Responsible for rehabilitating injured and sick manatees.

    C) Recreational Boater:  Uses shared (man and manatee) waterways for operating water crafts.

    D) Property Developer: Wants to develop coastlines     for residential and commercial purposes.

Step 3:  Conduct an investigation as to how your role positively or negatively impacts the manatees’ survival.


Step 4: Present your findings to your group.  Prepare a written statement describing the positive or negative impact of your role on the manatees’ survival.  Include support from your research to help elaborate on your conclusion.


Step 5: As a group, devise a list of strategies to combat the effects of both natural and man made causes of endangerment.


Step 6: Draft a letter illustrating your findings, which you will “send” to policy makers, persuading them to support manatee protection laws.
