Prepare for Your Appointment
SOAR advisors provide guidance for successfully completing your first year(s) of college. In addition to working with you to choose courses for the following semester, we provide you with important information and support. The number of times you will meet with your SOAR advisor varies depending on your needs. Some topics that you can expect your SOAR advisor to assist you with are:
- Course recommendations and requirements
- Time management
- Connection to campus resources
- Major/minor changes
- GPA calculation and improvement
- Study skills
- Exploring research opportunities
- Career and life skills
It is very important to
- Understand the requirements of your degree program and do your own research before each appointment.
- BE ON TIME FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. If you are late, your advisor may not be able to meet with you due to other appointments.
- Please place your phone on silent for your appointment.
