Medicare 101
As you hopefully already know, effective January 1, 2027, BJC and Washington University Medicine providers will no longer be accepting our TRAIL Aetna Medicare Advantage plan. That announcement has stirred up a great many questions and concerns over what to do now. Stick with Aetna and find new providers who are in their network? Look for alternative Medicare plans that will allow you to continue to see your current BJC/Wash U providers? If you choose another Medicare option, what might that cost you? With a deadline of November 23rd, time is running out for making a decision, but how do you decide what is best for you?
The SIUE chapter of SUAA is pleased to present Christine Doty, Community Outreach Director / State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor in the Edwardsville Township Office to discuss the many available Medicare plans and their pros and cons. Please join us online on Tuesday, November 10th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. While Christine will not be able to provide individualized advice for any one individual’s situation, she can discuss important things to know when considering alternatives to the TRAIL plan, and resources to assist you with your decision making.
To register for this session, please click here. Once registered, you will receive an email with the link to join the Microsoft Teams Meeting. You are encouraged to share this link with friends and colleagues considering other Medicare coverage options at this time.
This event is open to any member of SURS, regardless of their membership status with SUAA. That said, if you are not already a member of SUAA, please consider joining today. These are the issues that SUAA advocates for, and the more members we have, the stronger we are when it comes to protecting and preserving our pension and healthcare benefits.
