SIUE Chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) Celebrates SURS Retirees Appreciation Day
In recognition of Senate Resolution 0112, sponsored by State Senator Erica Harriss, recognizing Friday, June 13, 2025, as SURS Retirees Appreciation Day, members of the SIUE Chapter of SUAA and staff from the SUAA office started the celebration in Edwardsville a day early!

Immediately following at 11:00 am, Senator Harriss invited SUAA members to her district office for a meet and greet and photo opportunity:

Senator Harriss also hosted a reception after the meet and greet during which she presented Keith Becherer, SIUE SUAA Chapter President with a signed copy of the resolution she sponsored saying:
"Our teachers play a vital role in shaping the lives of students--not just in the classroom, but throughout our communities. This resolution recognizes the commitment of SURS retirees who dedicated their careers to educating future generations, building strong institutions, and enriching the fabric of our state. Their legacy continues to influence Illinois today."
