Need for Private Support

Across all majors and schools, today's students need access to academic assistance and a range of activities to complement traditional classroom learning. Many of these opportunities are currently spread across campus, in space that was designed for-and needed for- classroom use. Greater numbers of students will take advantage of one-stop shopping for services that are offered in a convenient, centrally-located facility. The new 68,000-square-foot, two-story building connected to the Morris University Center will include:

  • International Student Services
  • Health and Counseling
  • Career Services
  • Disability Services
  • Academic Advancement Center
  • Seminar, meeting and lounge spaces

The Student Success Center is a critical component in SIUE's commitment to building a student community on campus, promoting student retention and helping students graduate on time. No state funds have been appropriated to construct a new center. However, SIUE's students have approved a fee increase to pay for the building's construction. The University seeks private support to ensure students have access to academic and personal resources inside the building that are now considered standard on college and university campuses.
