Student Affairs Recognition Awards
Nominate online January 28 - March 1
Annually online nominations are accepted for the Student Affairs Recognition Awards presented at an Awards Luncheon. There are several different Student Affairs Recognition Awards categories.
Please review the award criteria prior to nominating.
Narbeth R. Emmanuel Outstanding Service Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee must meet ONE or more criteria. Nominee MUST have been employed in SIUE Division of Student Affairs for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
- Prioritized services to students in their work efforts (students are at the forefront of what we do!).
- Improved the quality of services and programs above and beyond their job description.
- Served as a positive role model to others by consistently projecting a positive attitude toward their work, sharing their knowledge and insight with staff, and/or by being a motivator for student success.
- Strengthened the collaboration between university divisions.
- Enhanced office/department efficiency and productivity level.
- Provided an innovative approach to a service, administrative challenge or a programming need.
- Created new student programs or services.
- Involved students to a high degree in the planning, operation, and assessment of programs and services.
Champion of Diversity Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee should meet ONE or more criteria. Nominee MUST have been employed in the SIUE Division of Student Affairs for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
- Demonstrated a commitment to advancing the understanding of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, ethnicity/nationality, sexual orientation, disability, spirituality, socioeconomic status, etc.
- Improved the quality of services or programs by creating an atmosphere of positive engagement and mutual respect.
- Actively participated in efforts to enhance diversity issues on campus.
- Provided an opportunity for the campus community to gain a more global perspective (e.g. study abroad, alternative breaks, engaged in global discussions, etc.).
- Increased the quantity or variety of diversity programs on campus.
Civic Engagement and Public Outreach Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria. Nominee MUST have been employed in SIUE Division of Student Affairs for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
- Showed initiative through community outreach, service learning and public engagement.
- Improved the quality of service provided to SIUE students by collaborating with an area business or local community organization.
- Improved department/division/university visibility off-campus.
- Utilized opportunities to partner with the community for program development, either through guest speakers, sponsorship or other means.
- Participated locally, regionally, and or nationally in various organizations (including non-profit organizations) that have contributed to the overall learning opportunities available to our faculty, staff and students. (e.g. served on committee, presented at a conference, completed research or wrote for a publication)
Friend of Student Affairs Award - Faculty
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria. Nominee MUST have been employed at SIUE for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
The Friends of Student Affairs Award recognizes an individual faculty member (working outside the Division of Student Affairs) that has made an outstanding contribution through exceptional dedication to the mission and vision of the Division of Student Affairs that:
- Improved the quality of service provided to SIUE students by strengthening the collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs.
- Exemplified the values of Student Affairs in their work.
- Served as a positive role model to others by consistently projecting a positive attitude toward their work, sharing their knowledge and insight with staff, and/or by being a motivator for student success.
Friend of Student Affairs Award – Staff
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria. Nominee MUST have been employed at SIUE for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
The Friends of Student Affairs Award recognizes an individual staff member (working outside the division of Student Affairs) that has made an outstanding contribution through exceptional dedication to the mission and vision of the Division of Student Affairs that:
- Improved the quality of service provided to SIUE students by strengthening the collaboration with Student Affairs.
- Exemplified the values of Student Affairs in their work.
- Served as a positive role model to others by consistently projecting a positive attitude toward their work, sharing their knowledge and insight with staff, and/or by being a motivator for student success.
Friend of Student Affairs Award – University Department
Criteria for the award: Department or unit may meet ONE or more criteria.
The Friends of Student Affairs Award recognizes an SIUE department or unit (outside the division of Student Affairs) that has made an outstanding contribution through exceptional dedication to the mission and vision of the Division of Student Affairs that:
- Improved the quality of service provided to SIUE students by strengthening the collaboration with Student Affairs.
- Exemplified the values of Student Affairs in department or unit work.
- Contributed to student success or departmental/unit success through a project, programming, event or other collaboration with Student Affairs.
Outstanding Student Affairs Newcomer Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria and has worked within the SIUE Division of Student Affairs for THREE years or less.
- Displayed an innovative or creative effort within the Division of Student Affairs or respective department.
- Demonstrated outstanding service to the Division of Student Affairs and/or department.
- Consistently provided a positive impact on the student experience in their day-to-day interactions with students.
- Embraced the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and incorporated it into their own work.
- Participates in SIUE events and displays school spirit with students, faculty or staff.
- Indicates strong potential for future leadership roles in the Division of Student Affairs.
Front Line Service Superstar Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria and has worked within the SIUE Division of Student Affairs for a minimum of ONE YEAR.
- Demonstrated outstanding front line service to the Division of Student Affairs and/or department.
- Consistently provided a positive impact on the student experience in their day-to-day interactions with students.
- Embraced the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and incorporated it into their own work.
- Participates in the SIUE campus community and displays school spirit with students, faculty or staff. Indicates strong potential for future leadership roles in the Division of Student Affairs.
Unsung Hero Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria and has worked within the SIUE Division of Student Affairs for a minimum of ONE YEAR. This award is open to ALL staff within the Division of Student Affairs.
- Demonstrated a positive impact on the Division of Student Affairs and/or department with their behind the scenes contributions.
- Consistently provided a positive impact on the student experience with their behind the scenes contributions and/or their daily interactions with students.
- Embraced the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and incorporated it into their own work.
- Participates in the SIUE campus community and displays school spirit with students, faculty or staff.
- Indicates strong potential for future leadership roles in the Division of Student Affairs.
Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award
Criteria for the award: Nominee may meet ONE or more criteria and has worked within the SIUE Division of Student Affairs for at least ONE semester.
- Displayed an innovative or creative effort within the Division of Student Affairs or respective department.
- Demonstrated outstanding service to the Division of Student Affairs and/or department.
- Consistently provided a positive impact on the student experience in their day-to-day interactions with students.
- Embraced the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and incorporated it into their own work.
- Participates in SIUE events and displays school spirit with students, faculty or staff.
- Indicates strong potential for future leadership roles in the Division of Student Affairs and/or the field of Student Affairs.
