Raising Community Awareness
From Carbondale to DuQuoin to Belleville to Edwardsville,we have delivered numerous community awareness presentations to over 100 individuals.
Upon completion of the training sessions, 98% of participants were able to successfully identify at least three risk factors contributing to targeted violence and terrorism. 96% of attendees indicated that they felt better equipped to address the threat of radicalization to violence upon completion of the training session.
At SIUE we have delivered digital media literacy modules to over 12 classes and counting, reaching over 320 students.
In the post-test survey, 94% of students demonstrated increased awareness of methods that extremists use online to recruit individuals. Moreover, 92% of students indicated that they felt better equipped to identify efforts to manipulate them online.
We are currently partnering with EdVenture Partners, in coordination with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security, to bring the Invent2Prevent program to Illinois. Teams of high school students from across the state will design initiatives to prevent targeted violence and present them at a summit and competition at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
