Drug Information Services for Preceptors

The SIUE Drug Information & Wellness Center (DIWC) is available to all preceptors for many of your drug information needs. We offer this service as a courtesy to anyone who is directly involved in the education of our students.
Examples of Request Classifications:

  • Assistance in selection of optimal therapy, appropriate agent or dosage regimen
  • Drug administration
  • Pharmaceutical formulations
  • Pharmacology or mechanism of action
  • IV therapy and infusion devices
  • IV stability or compatibility
  • Adverse drug reactions
  • Drug interactions
  • Product, tablet, or capsule identification
  • Legal or regulatory issues
  • Foreign or investigational drug identification
  • Product availability
  • Pharmacoeconomics
  • Drugs in pregnancy and lactation

Requests to the Center are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time. The SIUE DIWC is closed on weekends and all University holidays. A voice mail system is in place when the staff is unavailable to answer the phone immediately.
