There is no limit to the number of requests per fiscal year for those who have an external grant.

All other faculty and staff by supporting one reprint charge/page costs per fiscal year for publication accepted by a national or international refereed journal. These requests require a 50 percent match for all costs up to a maximum of $200 in Graduate School support.

Conditions

Research and Development funds will not be used to pay faculty salaries for purposes of providing released time. Released time is the responsibility of deans and faculty chairpersons. Every request for Research and Development money for proposal development is made with the clear understanding that if money is made available to the researcher, a completed proposal is required to be prepared for submission to an external agency.

Requests for funds are considered by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, based on the recommendations of the Research and Projects Advisory Board (RPAB) in some cases. Requests are evaluated in terms of the likelihood that the investment of a small amount of seed money will produce a fundable proposal. Criteria for funding include: significance of the project, originality, proposed design, personnel and facilities, and the feasibility of the proposed work. Both University and agency priorities are considered in reviewing requests.
