Professional Background
How long have you been doing what you do?
I have worked in the field of education for 25+ years.
How long have you been at SIUE?
I started at SIUE in 2021.
How did you get here?
I worked in public education for over 25+ years and worked as the college and career coordinator. I enjoyed working with high school students regarding AP, dual enrollment, and post-secondary goals. Moving to higher education was an important step in expanding my knowledge and understanding of how to best help students as they make plans around college and career.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
I am most passionate about supporting students and cheering them on as they design the best life for them, personally.
What do you love most about working at SIUE?
I love the fact that no two days are the same. Most of the students I encounter are unique, diverse, and excited about their future goals. SIUE students make my job interesting and fun.
What are your primary duties in your current position?
I am currently the academic advisor for students who are undeclared nursing majors, exercise science majors, and speech and language pathology majors.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
Most of the time, you would find me outside walking, hiking, or whitewater rafting (when I am on vacation). I enjoy books on tape, reading, and writing.
Where did you grow up?
I was a military dependent so I grew up all over the United States and overseas.
Are you involved in any professional organizations?
I am a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
