Approximately 200 alumni, faculty, clinical partners and friends gathered on October 27, 2019 at the JSM Planetarium in Forest Park to celebrate the SIUE School of Nursing’s past, present and future excellence in nursing education through global outreach. The all-alumni reunion also celebrated the 10-year anniversaries of the SON classes of ’68, ’78, ’88, ’98 and ’08.
The entire JSM Planetarium was reserved to provide a truly unique and memorable evening. During the cocktail hour guests enjoyed immersive flight simulation, exhibits on space travel and virtual reality experiences. After dinner under the night sky projected onto a 24-meter dome, guests enjoyed a showcase of our School’s global outreach and impact presented by faculty and students. The SON’s Valerie Griffin, DNP, assistant clinical professor and global experiences coordinator, introduced the featured program, which showcased global outreach initiatives and impact. Recent graduates Lorilee Sebesta, Greg Jennings and Terry Wooten shared their transformative student experiences in Haiti, Guatemala and Costa Rica. The event then concluded with an unforgettable star show.
We are grateful to all individuals and organization for their amazing support of the success of this event. We look forward to hosting the Third Biennial Alumni and Friends Celebration in 2020 - date and location are TBD.
