Hey, Chris. Why did you choose SIUE?
I didn’t have the best grades or the best test scores in high school. Someone from SIUE gave me an opportunity, and it changed the trajectory of my life. It's the BEST decision I’ve ever made.
What do you want students to know about SIUE?
SIUE is the best place for students looking to have the best of both worlds: city and rural. In my opinion, it’s better than a ton of other state institutions. Many employers recognize the quality of an SIUE education. Take the time to evaluate your options, and you’ll see that this is one of the best places you can be. SIUE provides you with such an amazing education, and they truly invest in their students.
What’s your advice to incoming freshmen?
Venture outside your comfort zone. Get involved. Get an internship. It truly can be a difference maker for you down the road.
What’s your most memorable SIUE moment?
Joining Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., because it was the first time I joined something that was bigger than me. Joining that organization impacted my life in the most positive of ways … creating lifelong friendships, enhancing and developing my skill set, and participating in community service.
What made your experience at SIUE a positive one?
The people ... our students, our staff and our faculty. Everyone was always so supportive. They made me feel welcome, provided me opportunity and allowed me to spread my wings. SIUE was my community.
