Financial Aid Academic Status Notification: Probation

Dear $SUBSCRIBER.FIRSTNAME,

Based on United States Department of Education regulations, Illinois Student Assistance Commission rules, and University policy, students who apply and/or receive federal, state and most University aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress regardless of whether they have previously received aid. 

As you may remember, you appealed a former termination and your appeal was approved. With this appeal, you have been placed on Financial Aid Probation until either: 

A) During the semester you raise your cumulative GPA to a 2.0 or higher, and/or completion rate above 67%. If so, your aid is reinstated. 
OR
B) During the semester you do not meet the terms of probation. If so, your aid is terminated. 

Follow these steps to determine your Financial Aid Status: 

• Visit CougarNet
• Click on either Enter CougarNet with your e-ID or Enter CougarNet with your University ID
• From the Main Menu page, click Financial Aid Status
• Click on the current award year in the drop-down box and click Submit
• Current Financial Aid Academic Status will appear on your screen

This email serves as a reminder that you are currently on a probationary status. Please remember the terms of probation: 

• Enroll in no more than 12 credit hours each term until you are back in good standing
• Earn at least a 2.0 term GPA, with a passing grade in all transcripted courses (A, B, C, D or P)
• No withdrawals after the 100% refund period
• Repeat courses that are major, minor and general education requirements that have received low grades

It is very important that you meet the probationary terms if you wish to receive aid for the following semester.
