Luebbert, Warsing, Ehrhardt Claim March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Awards

Two School of Nursing faculty and one student were honored at the March of Dimes’ seventh annual Nurse of the Year Awards. 

Rebecca Luebbert, PhD, and Jodie Warsing, DNP, were honored in the education and behavioral health categories, respectively. Robert Ehrhardt was the student nurse recipient.

The three were among 10 School of Nursing finalists, including, Mary Frazier; Chelsea Howland; Frank Lyerla, PhD; Kelley McGuire, PhD; Ann Popkess, PhD; Bernadette Sobczak and Ashley Wittler.

WE CARE Clinic Boosted by $2.6 Million HRSA Grant

The School of Nursing has been awarded a four-year grant worth $2.6 million from the Health Resources and Services Administration in support of its WE CARE Clinic. 

The grant will support the training of undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students and registered nurses in the local community in caring for clients in the community-based primary care, nurse-managed clinic on the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus.

Loar Named WE CARE Clinic Director

Ricki Loar

The School of Nursing has appointed Ricki Loar, PhD, as the new director of the WE CARE Clinic at the SIUE East St. Louis Higher Education Campus. She assumed her responsibilities in December, and brings 34 years of comprehensive experiences in the health care industry to the clinic. 

A Chicago native, Loar is a family and gerontological nurse with experience in clinical practice, education, administration and consulting.
