I am pleased to inform you that you have been approved for deferred admission to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Our records indicate you have not yet demonstrated sufficient English language proficiency to begin academic coursework at SIUE. We require one of the following before you are fully admitted and able to register for classes:

• Submit a TOEFL score of 79, or an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
• Complete an SIUE-approved English language training program

We are currently developing a limited, on-campus English language program for students with a verified TOEFL score of 65, or an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher. We anticipate this program will be available beginning in the fall of 2020, which will allow students to take classes on campus to improve their English language skills to the required level. Once you successfully complete an English language program, you will be automatically admitted to the academic program for which you applied, and will not be required to retake the TOEFL or IELTS.

If your current TOEFL or IELTS scores do not meet our admission requirements and you wish to begin your English language training before the fall 2020 semester, please enroll in an English language program at another location. Upon request, we can provide a list of approved programs in the area.
