Choose Live-On for fall 2019-spring 2020

Current residents DO NOT need to fill out a new housing application to live in University Housing for the next academic year. Students should participate in the Reservation Process to reserve their space for summer 2019 and/or fall 2019 - spring 2020.

Close proximity to classes and campus activities, reasonable cost, amenities, and a strong community environment make living on-campus an enticing choice. Returning residents have three living options for fall 2019: Evergreen Hall, Cougar Village apartments, or an upperclass wing of a residence hall. Our upperclass living options all offer shared and private bedrooms and enjoy the same amenities as first year students - Internet access, expanded basic cable, computer lab, laundry, mail facilities, and more.

The time for students to choose to live-on is now. Visit siue.edu/housing/reservemyspace frequently for more information and updates about this important process. The website will include cost information, deadlines, how to find a roommate online, and much more! Contact the Central Housing Office with questions or information about how to choose to live on!

Thank You Move-In Crew Volunteers!

A special “thank you” goes out to the 500 student volunteers who volunteered to be part of the University Housing Move-In Day this fall! We are thrilled so many students continue to be part of this tradition - we could not do it without our volunteers!

Leadership Opportunity in University Housing

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a key member of University Housing. As a front line employee, it is the RA’s responsibility, under the direction of the Community Director, to educate residents, serve as a resource person, facilitate the development of community, enforce policies, and assist with administrative tasks. The application process starts in November with Information Sessions. Interested applicants are required to attend and sign in at one RA Information Session. Applications are due by December 5, 2018 at 11:59pm. A complete list of requirements can be found at siue.edu/housing/employment.

Questions can be directed to Sarah Kirkpatrick, Assistant Director of Residence Life at 618-650-4629.

Did you know your student can enroll in courses during winter and summer break?

SIUE offers a three-week winter session beginning December 17. Classes are entirely online to provide easy access for students during winter break. Due to the accelerated timeline, students are expected to dedicate significant time to their coursework and limit themselves to one course. Students can register for a winter course during spring registration which begins October 29. To see available courses and learn more about winter session, visit siue.edu/winter-session.

Summer session at SIUE offers nearly 1,000 courses—many meet for five weeks or less. A variety of face-to-face and online classes are available including general education, upper-division and graduate studies. Students can lighten their class load for fall, benefit from small class sizes and be taught by full-time faculty members. Visit siue.edu/summer to learn more.

Encourage your student to check out winter and summer courses as they continue on the path to graduation.
