Greetings,

We know that many of you are making decisions about living on-campus for fall 2021-spring 2022. With that in mind, we want to share our plans for the next academic year in University Housing. The opportunity to be part of the on-campus housing community is a valuable tool while you are a student at SIUE. Residents are more likely to be successful academically and make meaningful connections on campus. The list below highlights what residents can expect living on-campus for fall 2021-spring 2022.

  • Fall Move-In will occur over several days, to allow for more distancing.  First year students will be assigned move-in times on Wednesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 19. Upper-class students will be assigned move times on Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21.
  • Guests will be permitted in University Housing. We anticipate beginning the year allowing other residential students (from any on-campus housing community) and a limited number of family/emergency contacts. Overnight guests will be permitted.  We will continue to review this policy to potentially allow for additional guests if the guidance and environment allows.
  • University Housing is looking forward to a more traditional programming approach this fall, with in-person events that align with campus health and safety policies. Virtual events will still be available.
  • Common University Housing spaces, like social and study lounges, will be open for use.
  • University Housing will align with campus guidance as it relates to face coverings in public spaces.
  • Living units will create a "household" and will be treated as such. This means face coverings and social distancing will not be expected in the living unit (bedroom, apartment). No more than 2 residents will be assigned to each bedroom.
  • We anticipate additional seating to be made available in the Morris University Center during fall 2021, including the Center Court Dining Area.
  • We will maintain increased cleaning and sanitization of high touch surfaces throughout the residential communities.

We look forward to a more traditional fall semester on-campus, while also continuing to prioritize health and safety. We will continue to use available resources, like testing, contact tracing, in-person safety guidelines, vaccines, and more.
