Meet Konstantina Stavroulaki, student in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Konstantina

When most people imagine what it would be like to be a student taking a course in Immunology, working in teams using gaming software to learn the material is probably not what comes to mind.  However, that is precisely how Konstantina Stavroulaki structured the Immunology courses where she assisted as Teaching Assistant.  Her innovative use of gaming software to teach complex concepts is part of what led Konstantina to be named as SIUE's 2019 Outstanding Teaching Assistant at the master's level by the Graduate School.

After completing her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Lindenwood University St. Chalres, Konstantina worked full-time as a quality control laboratory analyst and as a lead Hospitalist scribe and trainer.  In 2018, she began her graduate studies at SIUE in the master's program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and has excelled not only as a Teaching Assistant, but also as a student and researcher.  Her research has been focused on the identification of prevalent waterborne pathogens in water samples collected from varying municipal systems located in the Missouri/Illinois region, as well as Costa Rica and Guatemala.

Following the completion of her master's degree this year, Konstantina plans to attend medicial school.
