Congratulations Graduates!

Welcome to the first week of Fall 2017 classes!  This monthly digest will include all of the information you need to know to be successful at SIUE.  We will include information about upcoming events, funding opportunities, requirements and deadlines students must meet and resources available to all students.  You will receive the digest in your email each month and it will be posted on the Graduate School website.  www.siue.edu/graduate

Graduate Assistants

Welcome Graduate Assistants for the 2017-2018 school year! Hopefully by now you have signed your contracts and began work. Please keep in mind that if you haven’t signed your contract, or your contract was signed late that your first paycheck will probably be delayed. Also, please notify the graduate school (cmcguig@siue.edu) if your course load changes because this may affect your tuition waiver.  Do not start working until you have signed your contract!

Congratulations on your new position! If you haven’t already done so, check out the Graduate Assistant Handbook for more info.

Graduate Program Directors

By now you should all be familiar with your Graduate Program Director and/or advisor.  You should meet with the GPD/Advisor either in person or through email at least once per semester to make sure you are on track academically.  They can also help you determine next steps after graduation.  If you have any issues or questions about your personal or professional development, make an appointment with your GPD/Advisor.

Graduate Program Directors may change each year, so be sure to check the Graduate Catalog for the current GPD's.

A Note From the Vice Chancellor for Administration

To facilitate active communication in areas where people don’t always feel comfortable reporting crimes or harassments, several tools are available to faculty, staff, and students:

  1. An anonymous e-mail box is available at ESAFE@SIUE.EDU.
  2. Individuals can also call ext 3324 from a campus phone (or 618-650-3324) to leave an anonymous tip.
  3. Anyone affiliated with SIUE can also download the app RAVE GUARDIAN on their phone and leave an anonymous tip.
  4. The 83 emergency phones located throughout the three campuses are available 24/7.

Of course, emergencies should always continue to be phoned to 911.

If you see it, report it.  Your information can be an important part of the investigative process and help the administrative staff ensure a safe and positive campus experience for all.
