Summer Assistantships

If you are still interested in finding an assistantship for summer, visit our website to view postings or contact the individual departments to find openings.  In addition to contacting your major department, you may consider looking at student affairs, the library, or other academic departments for opportunities.

If you already have an assistantship lined up for the summer, here are some important items to consider...

  • Do NOT begin working until you have signed your contract.  Students who begin working before the contract is processed may not receive payment for those days.
  • Please register for summer classes as soon as possible to insure your contract will be processed before your first pay period.
  • Your assistantship may provide a tuition waiver.  You are still responsible for all fees.
  • Read the handbook
  • If you make any changes to your classes once the semester begins, contact us right away.  Even if it seems like a simple switch, it may impact your tuition waiver and we need to update the system.  Email graduateschool@siue.edu with course changes.

If you have any questions, contact us.  We're here to help.

Graduating next semester?

Here are a few important deadlines you need to follow before graduation:

  • If you are completing a thesis (not a final project), the Registration of Title form is due to the registrar the first day of the semester in which you want to graduate.  If you will be doing research with human subjects, you must complete human subjects training and submit an IRB Protocol.
  • Every student must apply for graduation, regardless of whether you wish to participate in commencement.  Graduate applications must be submitted by the first day of the semester in which you want to graduate.
  • Commencement ceremonies are held at the end of fall and spring.  For more information please refer to the Commencement website.

Drinking Water Survey

Dear Students, Would you take a short on-line survey about your drinking water preferences and choices? This survey forms the basis of the Thesis research for my first MS student, Kehinde Olagunju. PRIZE: Fifteen randomly chosen survey participants will receive $20 Amazon Gift Cards. If you could take a few moments to take this survey to help Kehinde with her research, we would be very grateful.
