Final Call for Graduate Student Advisory Board!

We will choose the members of the Graduate Student Advisory Board this week!  If you are interested in getting involved in the Graduate School, please email tlockha@siue.edu by Friday, September 9 at 4:30.  Include your name, student ID number, SIUE email address, program you are enrolled, approximate graduate hours earned, and if you are a part-time or full-time student.

As an advisory board member, you will meet with members of the graduate school two times per semester to discuss student concerns, discuss issues with student senators, and learn about what's new in the graduate school.  We use these discussions to guide future student outreach and resources available to graduate students.  The advisory board allows you the opportunity to connect with fellow students and graduate school staff and administrators.  Meetings will be in the evening on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.  Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to be considered.

Graduate Student Success Sessions

This semester we will have student success sessions just for you!  Kimmel Leadership Center will help you get involved at the graduate level and take on a leadership role with organizations and undergraduates.  The Career Development Center will help you plug into professional organizations and build that network of support now.  The Writing Center will help you write in the correct style, at the graduate level, proofread your work, and prepare for your thesis.  Each session will be held on the 2nd Floor of the Morris University Center and will last approximately an hour.  Students who attend the sessions will be entered to win a $40 gift card to Target.  The more sessions you attend, the greater your chance to win!  The drawing will be held after the last session in November.  Click here to view the schedule!

Kimmel Student Involvement Center

Kimmel is for graduate students, too!  Sure, the life of an incoming freshman may no longer match your campus involvement goals, but there are many ways you can be involved, connected, and growing as a leader.  As a graduate student, you have the unique opportunity to mentor and guide undergraduate students in their organizations.  You can take on leadership roles, get involved with the community, and participate in organizations within your department.  All Kimmel programming is for all students.  Check out what's happening on campus, connect to students, volunteer, and be a great Cougar!  https://www.siue.edu/kimmel/index.shtml
