SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School's (CHS) annual Angel Tree giving campaign is underway.

This is your opportunity to make this holiday season a memorable one for the students at CHS.

As winter approaches, the CHS staff would like to ensure that all of its students experience the joy of the holiday season. This year, the goal is to give every CHS student a new sweatshirt and to give additional winter gear to the neediest students.

Unfortunately, our students have needs year round for things like school supplies and school uniforms. This year, please consider making a recurring donation that will help to make CHS students successful all year long.

Now through Friday, Dec. 13, we will be accepting donations to the Angel Tree giving program. Click here to donate to CHS Angel Tree online using a credit card.

Please Remind Students to Return Their Textbooks by Dec. 14

Textbook Service would like to remind everyone that all textbooks must be returned no later than 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 to avoid the cost of books being charged to the student’s  account.

If it is raining when returning books, make sure you keep them dry as we cannot accept wet or damp textbooks.

Don’t wait until the last minute to return books!

Textbook Service Extended Hours:
Today-Thursday, Dec. 12 – 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 13 – 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 14 – 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Avoid the lines and help out the SIUE Cougar Cupboard and fellow students at the same time.
Bring at least five (5) canned food items (any items), and you can skip the line and head directly to the first available return station.

As an extra incentive, if you bring at least five (5) of the following high priority food items, not only will we allow you to skip the line, we also will re-shelve your books for you, too.

High priority food donation items are as follows:

• Canned Chicken

CSDI Hosts MLK Day of Service Donation Drive

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) is hosting a donation drive for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Donations will be taken until Friday, Dec. 20 and can be dropped off:

Please join us as we prepare for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service project by donating items to help assemble winter care kits for homeless shelters and charities within the Madison County and St. Louis area. Items must be new.

Apply Today for SIUE Meridan Society Meridian Award

The SIUE Meridian Society is looking to fund projects (up to $5,000) that demonstrate a collaborative effort between an SIUE unit and a community organization.

SIUE College, Schools, major units, departments and organizations (including student organizations) with an SIUE account are invited to apply for the 2020 Meridian Awards.

The Meridian Award application/proposal must be submitted and received by Monday, Feb. 3, 2020.

Applications Open for 2020 SIUE Summer Success Program

The Office of Retention and Student Success has announced that applications are now open for the 2020 SIUE Summer Success Program.

This five-week program is open to a select cohort of newly admitted first-year students who have identified as first generation and/or low-income students.

The program works collaboratively with students to engage in an ongoing transition process from high school to college, focusing on fostering academic excellence, leadership, meaningful academic and social connections, and personal development.

The deadline is Friday, May 1.
