The Department of Theater and Dance continues its presentation of, “That High Lonesome Sound” in the Metcalf Theater:

The musical is written by Jeff Augustin, Charise Castro Smith, Diana Grisanti and Cory Hinkle. Peter Cocuzza is the director.

Annual SIUE Athletics Kids’ Night Out, Dec. 6

The SIUE Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletic Department will once again be holding their annual Kids’ Night Out event!

Enjoy a night to yourself, while your children enjoy a fun-filled evening with the SIUE student-athletes.

Activities for the kids will include: board games, coloring, crafts, basketball, volleyball, movies, snacks, tag, kickball and so much more!

Ages 4 and up are welcome to attend and the event is open to all, so please feel free to share with friends, family, and neighbors! 

The cost is $20 for the first child, and $5 for each additional child in the same family.

The MFA Creative Writing Program launched its new podcast, “Writers in the World,” on Monday, Nov. 18.

Host Grant Deam, English Language and Literature teaching assistant, interviews current students, faculty and visiting writers about MFA programs, artistic and personal journeys, elements of craft, and more.

New episodes will be released every Monday.

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) is hosting a donation drive for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Donations will be taken until Friday, Dec. 20 and can be dropped off:

  • Developmental appropriate curriculum for parents and children, ages 1.5-3 years
  • Eight-week class
  • Weekly 45-minute class
  • Includes two digital materials with songs, activities, instrumental music, lyrics and more
  • Tuition: $150 by Sunday, Jan. 5
  • Mondays at 6 p.m.: Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24

Starting Thursday, Jan. 9, Village (Foundations) Class:

  • Theme: Cock-a-doodle-Moo!
  • Developmental appropriate curriculum for parents and babies, ages newborn to 18 months
  • Class of no more than 12 babies with parents
  • Eight-week class
  • Weekly 45-minute class that includes new and unique parent and baby activities
  • Includes at-home materials such as a picture book with farm animals and the sounds they make and Cock-a-doodle-Moo, a CD of the songs heard in class, a sunshine jingle instrument, and a set of art banners for the nursery wall
