SIUE Percussion in Concert, Today

The Department of Music presents SIUE Percussion in Concert:

The special guest is Dr. Michael Burritt, director of percussion at the Eastman School of Music. Burritt will perform his own work, HOME TRILOGY and Bob Becker's masterpiece MUDRA, with the SIUE Percussion Studio.

Professor Burritt brings his artistry and teaching to SIUE to share with students.
The Eastman School of Music is world renowned, and Professor Burritt is an internationally acclaimed soloist and composer.

There are local children in need of gifts and clothes this holiday season!

Any organization, student, faculty or staff member can sponsor a child or multiple children this holiday season. We are once again working with the Salvation Army to secure names of local children in need.

To sign up to sponsor a child, please stop by the Student Government Office front desk located in the Student Success Center (SSC), room 1280.

Important Dates:
Wednesday, Dec. 4:  Deadline to sponsor a child, pick-up Angels by 4 p.m. from SSC, room 1280
Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 4-6:  Drop off labeled, unwrapped presents to Student Government Office

Know an Outstanding Student Leader? Encourage Them to Apply to be a Resident Assistant!

The 2020-2021 Resident Assistant application is now open. The RA application can be found online.

Resident Assistant qualifications include:

  • Turn in a completed application by the appropriate deadline: 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA by the time you assume the position (RAs are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA)
  • Cannot be graduating before May 2021
  • Cannot be involved with a full-time internship/co-op, student teach or enrolled in the School of Pharmacy program during the 2020-2021 academic year
  • Have lived in University Housing for at least two full semesters by the time you would begin as an RA (summer is counted as a semester)
  • Be in good financial, academic and behavioral conduct standing with the University

Annual SIUE Athletics Kids’ Night Out, Dec. 6

The SIUE Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletic Department will once again be holding their annual Kids’ Night Out event!

First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center
SIUE campus

Enjoy a night to yourself, while your children enjoy a fun-filled evening with the SIUE student-athletes.

Activities for the kids will include: board games, coloring, crafts, basketball, volleyball, movies, snacks, tag, kickball and so much more!

Ages 4 and up are welcome to attend and the event is open to all, so please feel free to share with friends, family, and neighbors! 

The cost is $20 for the first child, and $5 for each additional child in the same family.

SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School's (CHS) annual Angel Tree giving campaign is underway.

This is your opportunity to make this holiday season a memorable one for the students at CHS.

As winter approaches, the CHS staff would like to ensure that all of its students experience the joy of the holiday season. This year, the goal is to give every CHS student a new sweatshirt and to give additional winter gear to the neediest students.

Unfortunately, our students have needs year round for things like school supplies and school uniforms. This year, please consider making a recurring donation that will help to make CHS students successful all year long.

Now through Friday, Dec. 13, we will be accepting donations to the Angel Tree giving program. Click here to donate to CHS Angel Tree online using a credit card.

We also accept cash or checks. Checks should be made payable to the SIUE Foundation and sent to Anne Moore, CHS treasurer, Campus Box 1049. Please drop off any cash donations to Moore in Alumni Hall, Room 1134.
