Flu Shots Available, Today

Health Service has received its shipment of flu vaccine (Fluarix® Quadrivalent), and is pleased to offer flu vaccine to faculty, staff, retirees and students!

Health Service is able to provide flu shots to employees and retirees who are the primary insurer in a state sponsored insurance plan at no charge.

In order to receive the vaccine at no charge, employees must:
1.) Document the last four digits of your social security number
2.) Present your University ID 
3.) Present your state health insurance card

Retirees must:
1.) Document the last four digits of your social security number
2.) Present your state health insurance card

For employees not covered under a state health plan, Health Service is able to provide flu immunization at a cost of $35 (cash or check only).

SIUE students may receive the flu shot for $15. In order to receive the vaccine at this price,
students must:
1.) Present your University ID
2.) Provide payment in cash or check

Please plan to wear clothing for easy access to the upper arm injection site.

Walk-In Flu Shot Clinics will be available in the lower level of the Student Success Center. In order for us to continue to provide dedicated nursing service to our students during this time, we will use the meeting rooms close to our clinical office. There will be signs to identify the appropriate place.

Today, Oct. 17: 9–11:30 a.m. and 1:30–3:30 p.m.

Plan to Attend SIUE Strategic Plan Open Forums

One-hour open forums for the SIUE Strategic Plan are now scheduled throughout the coming weeks to present the campus community with draft goals, objectives and key performance indicators.

All forums will be held in the Morris University Center’s International Room, and campus community members are invited to attend and offer feedback toward editing and finalizing the draft statements. All sessions will be streamed live on siue.edu/tv

Your input is critical in helping to determine SIUE’s course of action from present day to 2025, when the Plan will again be reviewed:

New Yoga Session with Educational Outreach, Tuesdays and Thursdays

Yoga for Beginners

Biotechnology Laboratory Incubator
Cost: $85 for all 10 sessions or $10 a session 

Yoga for Beginners provides the fundamentals of practice for those getting started in yoga, as well as those with more experience who enjoy gentler movements. You will learn posture alignment, practice breath work through guided demonstration and reap the benefits of yoga, including improved balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy and better digestion.

New Traditional Chinese Calligraphy Course

The Office of Educational Outreach is offering a Traditional Chinese Calligraphy starting today.

Cost: $109

This course introduces the basic brush work and tools used in traditional Chinese calligraphy. You will learn and practice the basic skills used in writing the standard or regular script in traditional Chinese calligraphy.

The Center for Spirituality and Sustainability is hosting "Worship for a Wounded Planet," this year's Celebration of World Faiths program:

This multi-faith worship service includes statements and scriptures from six faith traditions addressing their responsibility and mandate to care for the Earth. Admission and parking in Visitor Lot B are free.

Club Ice Hockey Pink in the Rink Game, Oct. 19

Join us for the SIUE Club Ice Hockey’s Annual Pink in the Rink game scheduled on Saturday, October 19 vs. Bradley University.

D2 Hockey plays at 6:45 p.m. and D3 Hockey plays at 9:30 p.m. at the East Alton Ice Arena.

This year, Pink Ice Hockey jerseys will be available for purchase. Proceeds will be donated to a charity in support of breast cancer research.

The cost is $5 for general admission. FREE admission to SIUE Students with valid identification.

Join the Prevention Education and Advocacy Center (PEACe) for Aftermath, a five scenario guided walk through with talk back of Jenn's life in the aftermath of her sexual assault.
