All Faculty Meeting
"2020 Vision for Shared Governance"

1-4 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 31
Morris University Center, Hickory/Hackberry Rooms

Meeting Agenda
1-1:45 p.m. - Social hour (Refreshments will be served)
1:45 p.m. - Opening remarks
2-4 p.m. - Guided discussion
Come and go as your schedule allows.

Due to the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement, new initiatives, and standard University evolution over the past decade, Faculty Senate’s role in University work has shifted and needs to be realigned with the University’s mission of shared governance.

Our focus and engagement in shared governance requires some “course correction” in order to fit the needs of the faculty, within the changing landscape of SIUE, and ensure that faculty continue to have an effective voice at SIUE.

At the All Faculty Meeting, we will hold guided discussions to gather faculty input about these potential changes.

Topics to be discussed:
• Current and future faculty responsibilities
• Current challenges in shared governance
• Increasing faculty involvement in Faculty Senate

Vaughnie Lindsay New Investigator Award

The New Investigator Awards are made to tenure-track SIUE faculty members to recognize and support individual programs of research or creative activities. These awards recognize faculty members whose research or creative activities have the promise of making significant contributions to their fields of study, their respective school/department and to SIUE, in general. Recipients are expected to produce published scholarly works/products and externally sponsored grants/contracts.

As many as two Lindsay New Investigator Awards will be made per year, pending availability of funds. These awards are designed to support a significant and discrete portion of a faculty member’s larger research agenda. A cost-share equaling 20 percent of the total award is required from the applicant’s school/department. Each recipient of the New Investigator Award will receive $10,000 from the Graduate School and $2,500 from their unit  for a one-year period.

Application is due to the Office of Research and Projects by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019.
