Welcome International Students and Scholars!

Please join the Office of International Affairs in welcoming more than 100 new international students and scholars to SIUE.

In this group, we welcome 12 visiting students, two Global UGrad students and two Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants (who will teach Arabic and Yoruba).

Between now and the end of this year, SIUE will also host more than 18 visiting scholars. 

More than 50 countries will be represented in our international student/scholar population, including India, Nepal, Turkey, China, Vietnam, Belgium, Brazil and Nigeria.

If you see international students or scholars on campus who need assistance, your help is very much appreciated! Feel free to direct any student or scholar needing help to the Office of International Affairs, Student Success Center, room 0300 or call 650.3785.

Informational Sessions for Educational Outreach's Trip to Paris, Today and Aug. 24

The Office of Educational Outreach is proud to announce a Lifelong Learning trip to Paris, France!

Embark on a world adventure with us to immerse yourself in five days of France's finest culture and cuisine, including a hands-on French cooking class. Experience a Seine River Cruise, the iconic Eiffel Tower, Monet's Home, Montmartre and Versailles personalized  city tours, a four star hotel and much more!

This program includes two tour guides and transportation to all sites. Moderately paced tours average 2-3 miles of walking per day.

You can hear excerpts from her new book and share stories of watershed activism. Hartel will also introduce the Milagros for endangered species project.

Hartel conducted some of her research in 2008 in the St. Louis region, after receiving many connections through SIUE faculty and staff.

Expand your knowledge of Microsoft Excel 2016 with Educational Outreach!

Introductory Microsoft Excel 2016

Wednesdays, Aug. 21-Nov. 20
Cost: $219 

Designed for individuals with any level of experience with Microsoft Excel, this course will introduce new users to Excel 2016 and expand the knowledge of existing users. The course will include an overview of basic functionality in Microsoft Excel which will provide a foundation of the application. Topics covered in this course include creating and managing multiple worksheets, rearranging data, working with basic formulas and formatting, inserting charts and graphics, and a brief overview of pivot tables. A brief introduction to Windows is included. Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are required for this course. Textbook and online resource materials are provided.

Join us for the Fall 2019 Safe Zone LGBTQIA+ Student Welcome Reception.

This event is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Refreshments will be provided.

The primary purpose of this reception is to welcome new and continuing students, faculty and staff members who are members of our LGBTQIA+ community on campus. We invite all allies to attend and contribute to this effort. We will share the collective accomplishments of Safe Zone and its allies over the last year and will highlight what is to come.

Midwest Regional Green Infrastructure Symposium, Sept. 23-24

The SIUE Living Architecture Center of Excellence will host the Midwest Regional Green Infrastructure Symposium and Exhibition:

The symposium will feature expert speakers on design, research and policy including:

  • William Retzlaff, PhD, distinguished research professor of biological sciences and associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Susan Morgan, PhD, professor of civil engineering and associate dean in the SIUE Graduate School
  • Serdar Celik, PhD, 2018 Paul Simon Outstanding Teacher-Scholar and professor in the School of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering
