James Burgdorf Named SIUE Bursar

James Burgdorf has joined SIUE as the Associate Director of Financial Affairs for Bursar Operations, commonly known as SIUE Bursar, effective June 25, 2019. Burgdorf leaves a noteworthy record of accomplishments at the University of Illinois System where he was associate director in the University Student Financial Services & Cashier Operations division.

“James brings a tremendous amount of relevant experience from his more than 10 years with the University of Illinois System and his involvement with Bursar and other organizations as both a leader and conference speaker,” said SIUE Director of Financial Affairs Rich Hampton. Burgdorf fills the role of Cathy Foland who retired after 25 years of distinguished SIUE service on June 30. “I look forward to James providing the leadership, collaborative communication, and new ideas that Cathy brought every day during her 11 year tenure as SIUE Bursar.”

Hampton and Vice Chancellor for Administration Rich Walker would like to thank search committee members Laura Strom, Chris Leopold, Bev Bevineau, Mike Reed and Paula Geiger for their valuable insight and dedication.

Professional Attire Donations Needed

Ready to do a little cleaning in your closet? We need your help!

Each year, we have students in need of professional attire for interviews, career fairs, networking events and practicum/co-op/internship experiences. Unfortunately, not all students have the resources to obtain the appropriate attire for these occasions.

The Career Development Center is planning to take donations of professional attire items through Friday, July 26 in preparation for our fall recruiting season. We will take ongoing donations outside of this timeframe, but this will be the first major push to get as many initial items as possible.

We will be accepting both men’s and women’s attire. All items need to be in good condition and already clean and ready to be given to students. We are hoping to get a variety of sizes and options, so that we can make this service available to any student in need.

Items can include:
• Suits
• Dresses
• Skirts
• Dress pants/khakis
• Sweater sets
• Polos
• Blouses
• Belts
• Ties
• Anything that could be worn for a professional event with employers
• Anything that would be appropriate as a starting point for a professional wardrobe

Items can be dropped off at the Career Development Center, located in the basement of the Student Success Center, room 0281, on the SIUE campus.

Please drop off items during regular business hours (M-F 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).

Feel free to contact Carrie Smolar or Megan Gilbert at the Career Development Center at 618-650-3708 with any questions.

Thank you for your time and participation. Your donations can help make the difference in a student’s academic journey!
