Yoga for Beginners
5-6 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays through -July 9 (No class will be held on July 4)
Cost: $10 per session or $85 for all 10 sessions

Yoga for Beginners provides the fundamentals of practice for those getting started in yoga, as well as those with more experience who enjoy gentler movements. You will learn posture alignment, practice breath work through guided demonstration and reap the benefits of yoga, including improved balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy and better digestion.

What do we do with all those old keys? How many do you have in your junk drawers? We at the Macoupin Art Collective have A BUNCH! We want to show you how to take those keys and turn them into fun and whimsical décor! We will learn how to make decorative broaches, wind chimes, pendants, wall art, and more! Ages 14 and up.

Intro to Yarnbombing
11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Cost: $20

What is Yarnbombing? We will learn about the yarnbombing movement and work on some small yarnbombs for the Macoupin Art Collective and one large collaborative piece that will be publicly displayed! Ages 6 and up.

Cookie Decorating with Blackbird Bakery
6-8 p.m.
Tuesdays, July 9 and 16
Cost: $55

In this two-part course with instructor, Emily Paul of Blackbird Bakery, you will learn how to make royal icing, mix colors, fill cookies using basic colors and wet-on-wet designs, and add additional decorations, including flowers and lace. At the end of the course, you will take home one dozen decorated cookies.

Kids Sewing
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tuesday-Friday, July 9-12
Cost: $60

We will aim to create an article of clothing in this class. We will learn about either creating a skirt, a pair of shorts, or a shirt. Ages 10 and up.

Microsoft Excel: Intermediate Level
6-8:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, July 9-August 13
Cost: $129

Designed for students with previous Microsoft Excel experience, this intermediate level course will expand the users’ Excel 2016 skill set with projects that demonstrate the application’s higher capabilities. Topics covered in this course include creating formulas that use data in multiple worksheets, working with advanced formulas and formatting, inserting charts and graphics, and writing functions. Introductory Excel 2016 knowledge and skills are required for this course; however, a brief review of basic Excel 2016 formulas will be included. Online resource materials are provided.

Ayurveda: The Science of Personalized, Natural Healthcare
5:30-7 p.m.
Wednesdays, July 10-August 7
Cost: $49

The term “ayurveda” translates as “the science of life.” Traditionally, it partners with yoga to provide a basis of personalized and natural healthcare. You will explore the basics of ayurveda theory, including personal constitution, seasonal changes, lifestyle and daily regimen suggestions.

Blackboard Offline Briefly on June 27

Blackboard has notified ITS that its vendor will be conducting maintenance on SIUE’s cloud hosted learning management system.

As a result, Blackboard will be offline and unavailable beginning at 3 a.m. Thursday, June 27. The downtime is expected to last about two hours.

Sign Up Today to Participate in PrideFest 2019!

SIUE's Safe Zone, sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, will host a booth at PrideFest 2019 to support the community and tell visitors about the great things at our University.

We need volunteers to staff our booth and help give away spin-the-wheel prizes. This is a fun event, and the energy at the festival is exciting and positive.

We also invite you to represent SIUE by walking with us during the parade from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, June 30. We also will staff a float in the parade this year.
