American Red Cross Blood Drive, June 12-13

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on campus from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on the following days:

  • Wednesday, June 12  – Bloodmobile, SIUE Hairpin
  • Thursday, June 13 – Bloodmobile, SIUE Hairpin

Open Forums for Program Licensure Manager Begin June 14

The campus community is invited to attend open forums for each of the candidates interviewing for the Manager for state, federal and program licensure position.

DIY Special: Build Your Own Wood Slab Coffee Table
6-7:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, Today-July 9
Cost: $239 

Learn the basics of building live edge slab furniture and wood finishing by building your own coffee table or bench. No experience necessary. Wood slabs will be selected in the first class, taken home and returned each week to make progress. Cost for wood slabs and steel legs is included in course cost. You will need an orbital (finish) sander at home to make progress between sessions. 

Cookie Decorating with Blackbird Bakery
6-8 p.m.
Wednesdays, June 12-19
Cost: $55 

In this two-part course with instructor, Emily Paul of Blackbird Bakery, you will learn how to make royal icing, mix colors, fill cookies using basic colors and wet-on-wet designs, and add additional decorations, including flowers and lace. At the end of the course, you will take home one dozen decorated cookies. 

Makeup 101: Basics, Tips, Tricks and Tools
4-6 p.m.
Saturday, June 15
Cost: $109 

Freelance makeup artists Ruthie and Mallory Kahl will teach you the basic steps to achieve a modern natural makeup application. Never can quite get your eyeliner right? Want to enhance or minimize some features? Are there brushes, sponges and products that you really aren’t sure how to use? You’ll be able to watch a live makeup tutorial with “The Kahldashians” and have them show step-by-step application and a Q&A session to answering your questions. Open to ages 13 and up. 

Yoga for Beginners
5-6 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, through July 9 (No class will be held on July 4)
Cost: $10 per session or $85 for all 10 sessions 

Yoga for Beginners provides the fundamentals of practice for those getting started in yoga, as well as those with more experience who enjoy gentler movements. You will learn posture alignment, practice breath work through guided demonstration and reap the benefits of yoga, including improved balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy and better digestion.

Beginning Drawing
5-6:30 p.m.
Thursdays through July 18 (No class will be held on July 4)
Cost: $79 

Think drawing is a gift that must come naturally? Drawing is a skill that can be developed with practice. Learn how to draw with proper techniques, discovering how to represent what you see through studies in contour drawing, perspective, positive/negative space and value. With feedback from an expert instructor, you will improve drawing skills and develop a deeper understanding of capturing any subject as an artist or designer. 

Intermediate Drawing
6:30-8  p.m.
Thursdays through July 18 (No class will be held on July 4)
Cost: $79 

For those with some drawing experience, you will refine and expand your drawing and observation skills.

Sign Up Today to Participate in PrideFest 2019!

SIUE's Safe Zone, sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, will host a booth at PrideFest 2019 to support the community and tell visitors about the great things at our University.

We need volunteers to staff our booth and help give away spin-the-wheel prizes. This is a fun event, and the energy at the festival is exciting and positive.

We also invite you to represent SIUE by walking with us during the parade from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, June 30. We also will staff a float in the parade this year.
