Karla Ellsworth Retires

Karla Ellsworth, supervisor of the Cash Area in the Morris University Center Business Office, will retire on Friday, May 31.

Ellsworth has worked for more than 30 years at SIUE. She started working at the Bursar Office and then transferred to the MUC's Business Office.

SIU Board of Trustees Diversity Excellence Award, Nominations due May 31

The SIU Board of Trustees Diversity Excellence Award is an annual honor to an individual or group that encourages the SIU community to think and practice equity, diversity and inclusion in more creative and collaborative ways.

SIU System faculty, staff, students and groups can be nominated for the award that will include $1,000 to continue their diversity efforts.

The deadline for the award is Friday, May 31.

Award recipient(s) will be asked to share their diversity efforts at the Diversity Excellence Lecture and Award ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at SIUC.

To nominate an individual or group, submit the nomination form by mail to SIU Board of Trustees, Diversity Excellence Award Selection Committee, 1400 Douglas Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901 or by email to wmcneese@siumed.edu.

Cougar Volleyball Camps Begin June 4

Cougar Volleyball Camps are being held in June and July for coed youth from grades K-12.

All camps will be held in the Vadalabene Center main gym.

The SIUE Volleyball staff and student-athletes serve as camp clinicians at all camps. We want to help every camper grow at their own pace and learn more about the game of volleyball. We also love offering camps for all ages and skill levels at affordable, competitive prices for the surrounding community. Join us this summer!

Drone Camp at SIUE, June 12-13

The School of Engineering is hosting a Drone Camp for students ages 12-18:

8:45 a.m. Check-in
9 a.m.-3 p.m. Camp
Wednesday-Thursday, June 12-13
Engineering Building, SIUE campus
The cost is $250
Please register for Drone Camp.

Campers will:

  • Learn about FAA regulations for piloting unmanned aerial systems
  • Build, configure and experiment with drones
  • Learn how to program drones to address specific challenges
  • See drones in action
  • Build a knowledge base to build upon after camp
