Parking Limited with SIUE Commencement Ceremonies

During SIUE Commencement ceremonies on today and tomorrow, please plan accordingly for parking. Lot F will have limited parking for those not attending the ceremonies.

Faculty participating in the ceremonies are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to the event start time.

Don't Forget to Return Textbooks by May 11

Textbook Service would like to remind everyone that all textbooks must be returned no later than 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

To avoid costs being charged to your student account, don’t wait until the last minute to return your books!

Textbook Service's extended hours:

8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Today

8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 11

When returning textbooks, help out the SIUE Cougar Cupboard and fellow students at the same time.

• Bring at least five (5) canned food items (any items), and you can skip the line and head directly to the first available return station.

• As an extra incentive, if you bring in at least five (5) of the following high priority food items, not only will we allow you to skip the line BUT we will shelve your books for you.

High priority food donation items include:
• Canned fruit
• Peanut butter
• Pasta
• Rice
• Macaroni and cheese
• Canned chicken
• Oatmeal
• Boxed cereal

Critical Incident Debriefing: How to Respond Effectively and Compassionately Following a Crisis

Critical incident stress is the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual responses that most people experience following crises. In this workshop, we will explore the many facets of crisis and how this impacts individuals and families, and learn how to conduct critical incident debriefings to stabilize the situation. Together, we will develop the knowledge, skills and values to respond effectively and efficiently to heal broken lives and bring hope to our clients and communities.

SIU Board of Trustees Diversity Excellence Award, Nominations due May 31

The SIU Board of Trustees Diversity Excellence Award is an annual honor to an individual or group that encourages the SIU community to think and practice equity, diversity and inclusion in more creative and collaborative ways.

SIU System faculty, staff, students, and groups can be nominated for the award that will include $1,000 to continue their diversity efforts.

The deadline for the award is Friday, May 31.

Award recipient(s) will be asked to share their diversity efforts at the Diversity Excellence Lecture and Award ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at SIUC.

To nominate an individual or group, submit the nomination form by mail to SIU Board of Trustees, Diversity Excellence Award Selection Committee, 1400 Douglas Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901 or by email to wmcneese@siumed.edu.

Deadline Extended for Presentations for SIUE Diversity Day 2019

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Diversity Day Committee, invites proposals for engagement sessions and Ed talks for the 2019 SIUE Diversity Day, which will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The theme for Diversity Day is “From Awareness to Action, SIUE Shaping a Changing World.”

Engagement sessions are 60 minutes long and should be focused on a topic related to diversity, equity and/or inclusion. Proposals will be accepted until Friday, May 31.

Summer Soccer Camps at SIUE

Cougar Sports will host summer soccer camps for boys and girls at SIUE.

The camps will feature staff and players from both the SIUE men’s and women’s teams. Our goal is to create a fun and educational environment for campers of all levels.
