The SIUE Chapter 203 of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society is sponsoring its first book exchange of 2019:

Members of the SIUE community are invited to bring a book, and then take one from the inventory available. Book purchases can also be made for a nominal cost. Hardbacks are $1, and paperbacks are 2 for $1.

Phi Kappa Phi is open to all academic disciplines. Chapter 203 was founded on the SIUE campus in 1978.

Introduction to 3D Modeling and Manufacturing
5-8 p.m.
Tuesdays, Today-March 5
Cost: $125 

This course will provide a great hands on experience with a 3D printer. Participants will learn the basics of 3D modeling using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. They will learn how to create 3D drawings using CAD and how to prepare such drawings for manufacturing and 3D printing. Cost includes one roll of filament for 3D printing. 

Microsoft Excel: Beginner Level
6-8:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, Today-March 5
Cost: $129 

Designed for students with limited or no previous experience with Microsoft Excel, this beginner-level course will introduce new users to Excel 2016 with an overview of Excel basics that provides a beginner-level foundation of the application. Elements covered in this course include creating and managing multiple worksheets, rearranging data, working with basic formulas and formatting, inserting charts and graphics, and sorting and organizing large amounts of data. A brief introduction to Windows is included. Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are required for this course. Textbook and online resource materials are provided.

PEACe Hosts Snapchat Hide And Seek, Jan. 31

January is Stalking Awareness Month, so PEACe is facilitating Snapchat Hide and Seek with a discussion on stalking.

We will have two rounds of the game, followed by a discussion on what stalking is, how it happens, safety and resources. Food will be provided at the discussion.

The geostory for the game will be available from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31.

Chancellor Pembrook Announces Innovation Grant, Deadline Feb. 1

SIUE's research and grant productivity continue at impressive levels.

To build on this success and enhance it, the University is now accepting applications for the SIUE Innovation Grant program.

The fund is designed to generate creative thinking that considers what SIUE could become, and explores new ways of doing things that lead to long-term benefits for the University and beyond.

Innovations will be evaluated according to the following measures: breadth and impact on the University, clarity of outcome, clarity of budget, ability to generate new revenue or save funds, and practicality of implementation.

Deadline for summer 2019:
Friday, Feb. 1

SIUE Meridian Society Seeks Funding Proposals for Community-Based Projects

The SIUE Meridian Society is looking to fund projects (up to $5,000) that demonstrate a collaborative effort between an SIUE unit and a community organization.

SIUE college, schools, major units, departments and organizations (including student organizations) with an SIUE account are invited to apply for the 2019 Meridian Awards.

The Meridian Award application/proposal must be submitted and received by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1.
