Introduction to 3D Modeling and Manufacturing
5-8 p.m.
Tuesdays, January 29-March 5
Cost: $125 

This course will provide a great hands-on experience with a 3D printer. Participants will learn the basics of 3D modeling using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. They will learn how to create 3D drawings using CAD and how to prepare such drawings for manufacturing and 3D printing. Cost includes one roll of filament for 3D printing. 

Microsoft Excel: Beginner Level
6-8:30 p.m.
Tuesdays, January 29-March 5
Cost: $129 

Designed for students with limited or no previous experience with Microsoft Excel, this beginner-level course will introduce new users to Excel 2016 with an overview of Excel basics that provides a beginner-level foundation of the application. Elements covered in this course include creating and managing multiple worksheets, rearranging data, working with basic formulas and formatting, inserting charts and graphics, and sorting and organizing large amounts of data. A brief introduction to Windows is included. Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are required for this course. Textbook and online resource materials are provided. 

National Food Safety Certification
8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday, February 2

Cost: $149 

The ServSafe® course, conducted by faculty from the Nutrition Program at SIUE, is for individuals preparing for the exam. After attending the ServSafe® course and passing the proctored, multiple-choice exam with a score of 75 percent or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe® certificate. To receive and maintain certification, all individuals are required to pass a certification exam every five (5) years. Course fee covers cost of the most recent edition of the ServSafe® Manager book, online exam and learning materials.

SAT Review
Two Sessions Available:
Saturdays, 9-11 a.m., Feb. 2-23

Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Feb. 5-March 12
Cost: $199 for either session

This in-depth SAT preparatory course reviews and teaches concepts needed to prepare for the SAT. It condenses lessons into individualized sessions based on the group’s strengths and weaknesses to effectively prepare for the test. Please bring a calculator and No. 2 pencil to each session.

Yoga: History and Practice
5-6 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 5-March 7

Cost: $10 per session or $85 for all 10 sessions

This beginning yoga class provides the fundamentals and history principles of yoga. Individuals will learn posture alignment, breath work through guided demonstration and reap the benefits of yoga including improve balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy and better digestion.

Expert presenters provide insight on a range of topics covering history, culture, art, current events, health and nutrition.

Lifelong Learning presentations require no advance registration, but guests are encouraged to sign up for a membership.

Membership Information
Memberships are $25 per person, per semester and help offset facility costs for the programs.

The cost to attend each session is $2 for Lifelong Learning members and $5 for the public. SIUE faculty, emeriti faculty, staff and students can attend Lifelong Learning presentations for free.

Participate in the SIUE Ice Hockey Club’s Teddy Bear Toss Game, Feb. 2

The SIUE Ice Hockey Club is hosting its 1st annual Teddy Bear Toss:

4:15 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 2
in conjunction with the 4:15 p.m. game against Iowa State University
East Alton Ice Arena.

Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to throw on the ice after SIUE scores its first goal. If you are unable to get a teddy bear ahead of time, the SIUE Club Sports Department will be selling small teddy bears for $15 in the arena lobby prior to the start of the game.

Teddy bears can also be dropped off or purchased at the SIUE Programming Office in the Student Fitness Center. Another Teddy bear drop-off location will be at the East Alton Ice Arena.

All Teddy Bears will be donated to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. To download the Teddy Bear Toss registration form, click here.

General admission is $5. SIUE students get in FREE with a valid student ID.

You will be asked to include a description, contact info, location, date, time, age/grade level, camp fee and any additional links or attachments about your camp.

Apply Now for Emeriti Faculty Association Proposals

The Emeriti Faculty Association is pleased to request proposals from SIUE tenure and tenure-track faculty for projects that strengthen the academic quality of programs and that enhance the reputation of the University.

The deadline for proposals is Monday, March 18.

Application guidelines are available here. Eligible activities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Departmental colloquia that involve recognized outside experts
• Curricular development (disciplinary or interdisciplinary)
• Faculty exchanges, including international exchanges
• Scholar-in-residence programs

Ineligible activities include activities supported elsewhere in the University, such as research, development of teaching skills, and individual professional development.

Permanent Cougar Career Closet Now Open

The Career Development Center is pleased to announce that the permanent Cougar Career Closet in Student Success Center, Room 0281, is now open for students.

Students can visit the closet to “shop” for professional attire for interviews, career fairs, networking events, and practicum/co-op/internship experiences.

All items are donated and students may shop free of charge.

Students can drop by the Career Development Center during regular business hours. An appointment is not needed. However, calling 650-3708 in advance will ensure that a staff member will be available to assist them.

  • Students need to bring their Cougar Card for check-in at our front counter.
  • Students can get 2 complete outfits plus accessories during each visit.
  • Students can visit the Cougar Career Closet one time per month.
