Noon-1 p.m.
Today
Science East, room 2206

Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, hosts a major Southeast Asian hub as its capital and has the largest economy in Southeast Asia.

However, it is also an archipelagic country with 17,508 islands, more than 300 ethnic groups, 726 ethnic languages and five religions, with continuously increasing wealth inequality.

The future workforce of Indonesia is in the hands of the education community, yet creating an education system that meets everyone’s need does not come without challenges. Teacher quality will be critical for this endeavor.

In this talk, Sri Padmi will discuss the Indonesian education system, particularly in mathematics, the structure of teacher professional development programs, and the role of her home institution, SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics.
