The Goshen Market Foundation’s “Beet Box” will offer affordably priced local produce to students, faculty and staff this fall.

Look for SIUE's Booth at The Land of Goshen Community Farmer's Market

The Land of Goshen Community Farmer's Market is held in downtown Edwardsville Saturday mornings through October 20. At the market, businesses and farmers gather in tents—rain or shine—to sell their locally made products.

The City of Edwardsville has again graciously offered the University booth space. Each week, a different department will host the SIUE tent to provide information on events, issues or offerings.

Dr. Jeffrey Waple Featured on WSIE 88.7 FM The Sound

Each week on Segue, SIUE’s premier radio show, co-hosts Chancellor Randy Pembrook, PhD, and College of Arts and Sciences Dean Greg Budzban, PhD, interview various members of the University community to explore the ideas and issues occurring on campus and beyond.

On this week’s episode, Pembrook speaks with Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jeffrey Waple, PhD. The episode will air at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, on WSIE 88.7 FM The Sound.

Entering his fourth year in the position, Waple’s office is dedicated to supporting and challenging students to achieve their full potential. For example, the Morris University Center has received a few much-needed improvements that will help enhance student experiences, according to Waple.

SIUE Suzuki Program Offers Two New Classes

The SIUE Suzuki Program is proud to offer its newest class, Little Listeners.

This Suzuki early childhood education class is for children, ages 0-3, and will meet on Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, Sept. 8. Registration is still open, for more information, contact desingh@juno.com

Looking for private lessons in violin, viola or cello? The SIUE Suzuki Community Strings program provides lessons for students, ages 9-adult. Receive extra help on school orchestra music, learn note reading, prepare for solo and ensemble contest, or play folk songs, hymns, and fiddle tunes! Register now for Suzuki Community Strings.

SIUE Suicide Prevention Conference, Sept. 12

Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to register for the all-day Suicide Prevention Conference:

The conference is a collaboration between iCare and campus partners intended to further knowledge, skills and abilities in understanding contributing factors to suicide and existing best prevention practices.

The registration fee is $80 for faculty, staff and community members and $10 for students. Lunch is included and six CEU opportunities are available for social workers and nurses.

SIUE Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run, Register by Sept. 14

Be a part of SIUE's 3rd Annual Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run on Saturday, Sept. 29. Race proceeds will benefit SIUE Alumni Association Scholarships for deserving students.

Registration fee includes entry to the race, a T-shirt, swag bag, pancake breakfast provided by Chris Cakes, and family entertainment.

  • 1 Mile Fun Run - $5
  • 5K Race - $30
  • 10K Race - $40
  • SIUE Student Registration Fee - $5 for any race

Chicago’s Deeply Rooted Dance Theater (DRDT) is rooted in traditions of American and African American dance, storytelling and universal themes that spark a visceral experience and ignite an emotional response in diverse audiences worldwide.

DRDT collaborates with nationally renowned choreographers across the spectrum of modern, ballet and African dance to reflect contemporary voices.

Nominate an SIUE Student of the Month

The Kimmel Student Involvement Center, in partnership with the Edwardsville Rotary, is pleased to accept nominations for the SIUE Student of the Month.

Individuals selected for this award will be recognized at an upcoming Rotary meeting and at the annual Kimmel Leadership Awards Ceremony in April.

SIUE students can be nominated by students, faculty or staff. No self-nominations will be considered.

Applications are accepted on an on-going basis, and should be received by the 16th of the month to be considered for that month's award. Any nominees not selected for one month, will be considered for the following months.

Awards will be given for September through April each academic year.

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:
· High academic standards
· Campus involvement and activities
· Service to others on and off campus
· Leadership within their academic area or within an organization
· Demonstrated ability to promote spirit and pride at SIUE

STEM Center Announces Community Impact Fellowship Program

The SIUE STEM Center announces its FY19 Community Impact Fellowship program. This is a competitive fellowship, open to tenure-track or tenured faculty members, to support faculty as they leverage their research to engage area learners through STEM-based high impact community engagement products and practices.

The successful applicant will be a faculty fellow with the STEM Center beginning in fall of 2018 through summer of 2019, during which time the applicant will work with STEM Center faculty and staff to develop their research into a practice and/or product that engages area learning communities. To support the faculty member’s efforts, fellows will receive a stipend of $1,500 upon project completion.
