Career Development Center Offering Career-Related Presentations

When preparing for fall classes, don’t forget the Career Development Center gives presentations on career-related topics.

A career counselor is able to visit classes to give presentations on the following topics, including but not limited to:

  • Resumes
  • Interviewing
  • Networking
  • Job Search
  • Co-ops and Internships
  • LinkedIn
  • Career Assessments
  • Preparing for a Career Fair
  • Social Media
  • Professional Attire and Etiquette

Presentations can be done 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday or by request. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. However, there will be times when we have limited staff availability.

If you would like your class to use our services (i.e. mock interviews, assessments, resume approvals, etc.), please notify us in advance that your students will be making appointments, as well as a description of the class assignment and name of the class.

Look for SIUE's Booth at The Land of Goshen Community Farmer's Market

The Land of Goshen Community Farmer's Market is held in downtown Edwardsville Saturday mornings through October 20. At the market, businesses and farmers gather in tents—rain or shine—to sell their locally made products.

The City of Edwardsville has again graciously offered the University booth space. Each week, a different department will host the SIUE tent to provide information on events, issues or offerings.

Call for Presentations for SIUE Diversity Day 2018

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Diversity Day Committee, invites proposals for SIUE Diversity Day workshops, concurrent sessions, and poster presentations for SIUE’s inaugural 2018 Diversity Day being held Tuesday, Oct. 16.

The theme is “From Awareness to Action, SIUE Shaping a Changing World.”

As a campus-wide experience, Diversity Day will provide a platform for students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and the broader community to engage different groups, learn about similarities and differences, and celebrate diversity and inclusion at SIUE.

Deadline for proposal submission is Tuesday, Sept. 4. Upon submission of a proposal, the primary session contact should receive an automatic message indicating that we have received the proposal. If the contact does not receive this message (and it is not in his/her spam filter), please email Venessa Brown at vbrown@siue.edu

It is reqired for you to fill out the annual Liability Waiver and Par-Q form. A Campus Recreation staff member will be available to assist you with completing these forms.

SIUE Suzuki Program Offers Two New Classes

The SIUE Suzuki Program is proud to offer our newest class, Little Listeners.

This Suzuki early childhood education class is for children, ages 0-3, and will meet on Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, Sept. 8. Registration is still open, for more information, contact desingh@juno.com

Looking for private lessons in violin, viola or cello? The SIUE Suzuki Community Strings program provides lessons for students, ages 9-adult. Receive extra help on school orchestra music, learn note reading, prepare for solo and ensemble contest, or play folk songs, hymns, and fiddle tunes! SIUE Suicide Prevention Conference, Sept. 12

Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to register for the all-day Suicide Prevention Conference:

The conference is a collaboration between iCare and campus partners intended to further knowledge, skills and abilities in understanding contributing factors to suicide and existing best prevention practices.

The registration fee is $80 for faculty, staff and community members and $10 for students. Lunch is included and six CEU opportunities are available for social workers and nurses.

SIUE Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run, Register by Sept. 14

Be a part of SIUE's 3rd Annual Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run on Saturday, Sept. 29. Race proceeds will benefit SIUE Alumni Association Scholarships for deserving students.

Registration fee includes entry to the race, a T-shirt, swag bag, pancake breakfast provided by Chris Cakes, and family entertainment.

Registration Fees:

  • 1 Mile Fun Run - $5
  • 5K Race - $30
  • 10K Race - $40
  • SIUE Student Registration Fee - $5 for any race
All SIUE alumni receive a $5 discount when registering.
