The SIUE Police Department will conduct active shooter training:

8 a.m.-Noon
Tuesday, Aug. 7 and Thursday, Aug. 9
Woodland Hall

and

1-4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 7 and Thursday, Aug. 9
Alumni Hall

Parking Lot A North will be blocked off on the training days.

The SIUE Police Department will be training with the following agencies: Edwardsville Police Department, Edwardsville Fire Department and U.S. Customs Police.

Textbook Service would like to remind everyone that summer textbooks must be returned by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10.

Textbooks for fall classes will be available for checkout beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug.13.

Textbook Service will be open during its normal hours, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 17.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 18, Textbook Service will be open the following extended hours:

SIUE Lovejoy Library “Night in the Stacks” Fundraiser, Aug. 11

Al Holliday and the East Side Rhythm Band is the featured artist for Lovejoy Library’s “Night in the Stacks” annual fundraiser.

Part of the fundraising efforts will consist of a silent auction that will include items from performers of the Mississippi River Festival, as well as other unique items.

Sugo’s Spaghetteria will provide dinner, and there will be a cash bar for the evening.

Register for The Mississippi Project Workshop VIII

Register now for The Mississippi Project Workshop VIII: The Value of the Humanities in Teaching and Learning about Sustainability.

SIUE Center for Spirituality and Sustainability (The Fuller Dome)

The workshop is free to educators in the region, and will be co-facilitated by Connie Frey Spurlock and Lisa Martino-Taylor. Register at cfrey@siue.edu.

These resource experts bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the workshop. SIUE's Shelly Goebl-Parker will help participants think about how art can be incorporated into the sustainability curriculum.

SIUE Distinguished Research Professor Greg Fields will share connections between indigenous knowledge and sustainability.

The Mississippi Project at SIUE is one of 13 AASHE recognized Centers for Sustainbility Across the Curriculum. The workshop is in its 8th year, and has been hosted by SIUE, Saint Louis University and Harris Stowe State University.

Volunteers Needed for University Housing Move-In on Thursday, Aug. 16

We are looking for faculty and full-time staff volunteers to assist with Move-In Day for first-year students on Thursday, Aug. 16.

Volunteers help welcome first-year students and their families to SIUE, and direct traffic at the entrance to Lot B and each of the first-year residence halls (Bluff, Prairie and Woodland).

We need YOU to make The SIUE Experience a success for the Class of 2022! 

Please consider volunteering to help welcome our new students. The first impressions they experience during this orientation program can have a lasting impact on their connection to SIUE.

We are looking for faculty and staff to accompany new students and upper class student leaders on our Class of 2022 service project.

This activity puts our SIUE value of citizenship into action. We are providing service to 10 community agencies in the St. Louis and Metro East area: Arlington Wetlands, Discovery Garden, EarthDance Farms, Granite City Community Garden, The Gardens at SIUE, La Vista CSA Farm, Metro East Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House, Watershed Nature Center and Willoughby Farm.

Bus transportation from Lot B will be provided.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is coordinating a program to welcome new students, and assist them as they navigate our campus.

Please consider volunteering to help make a positive first impression and get the year started on the right foot.

Stand in key locations across campus with an “Ask Me!” sign to answer questions and get students pointed in the right direction for their classes or to conduct business.
