Jamie Ball, JD, is New Director of Office of Equal Opportunity, Access and Title IX Coordination

Following a comprehensive national search led by search committee chairs Phyleccia Cole and Kim Durr and involving numerous constituency groups, Chancellor Randy Pembrook is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Ball, JD, as director of the Office of Equal Opportunity, Access and Title IX Coordination (EOA). Ball assumes her new duties effective Monday, June 18.

Ball arrives on campus after serving as the first institutional compliance officer/Title IX coordinator at Truman State University. She coordinated the University’s compliance with all aspects of Title IX and other laws and regulations relating to equal opportunity and non-discrimination. She served as the primary investigator for cases involving faculty, staff and student grievances relating to Title IX and other civil rights issues.

“We are incredibly pleased that Jamie Ball will be joining SIUE,” said Pembrook. “Her background and experience have prepared her well to lead in this area of vital importance. I know our University community will welcome her to Edwardsville.”

“I am honored and excited to be joining the SIUE community,” said Ball. “I look forward to forging strong relationships with the many campus partners who are essential to the support and implementation of an outstanding EOA program. I also look forward to making use of some new strategies that will support and streamline the case management process for Equal Employment Opportunity/Title IX complaints.”

“Most importantly, I am eager to get to know the people of SIUE,” she added. “Through listening to and learning from our students, staff and faculty, I’ll be empowered with invaluable insights that will help ensure that SIUE is as equitable, safe and inclusive as it can be.”

This Week's Episode of Seque with Dean Greg Budzban Features Professor Kathryn Bentley

SIUE plays a pivotal role in strengthening the regional economy partially through contributing to a flourishing artistic presence in the Metro East.

This week’s episode of Segue, the University’s premier radio show on WSIE 88.7 FM The Sound features College of Arts and Sciences Dean Greg Budzban, with Kathryn Bentley, MFA, associate professor in the Department of Theater and Dance, and newly selected director of the Black Studies program.

The episode of Segue will air at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 10.

Bentley has a long history as part of the SIUE community, earning her bachelor’s degree from the SIUE Department of Theater and Dance.

She studied for a while in Chicago, and completed an internship with the Black Repertory Theater in St. Louis. Bentley moved to New York for 10 years. After returning to St. Louis in 2000, her mentor Bill Grivna encouraged her to pursue graduate school.

Bentley completed her master's in fine arts-directing in 2004 and secured an appointment as an adjunct instructor at SIUE.

Volunteers Needed to help with SIUE PrideFest 2018, June 24

Dear Allies,

We are days away from PrideFest 2018! This year’s theme is Remember. Rise. Respect.

We invite you to represent our University community by walking with us during the Parade on Sunday, June 24 in St. Louis

Safe Zone of SIUE, sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Students Affairs, will host a booth at the festival to support the community and to tell visitors great things about our University.

We are looking for volunteers and shift leaders to staff our booth, and help us give away spin-the-wheel prizes. This is a fun time, and the energy at the festival is exciting and positive.

We need volunteers in as little as one-hour increments. Shift leaders are needed in three-hour increments. Shift leaders will serve as a backup to volunteers not able to attend, assist with setup or takedown and call authorities in case of an emergency.

For more information, contact Shelley Price-Williams at shewill@siue.edu or Mary Sue Love at marlove@siue.edu
Visit the event website for festival information at PrideSTL.
