SIUE Student-Athletes Excel In the Classroom

For the 24th consecutive semester, SIUE student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average higher than a 3.0.

“What began 12 years ago as a measure of future excellence has now become a standard of performance expectation,” said SIUE Director of Athletics Brad Hewitt, PhD.

The recently completed 2018 spring semester saw 71.6 percent of SIUE student-athletes finishing the semester with a GPA above 3.0. Forty-one student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0. Seven of those were freshmen. There were 104 student-athletes (46 percent) on the dean’s list.

Get on Board for Trip to Missouri Botanical Garden, May 23

Lifelong Learning is offering a road trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Get Your Professional Trainer Certification

The Professional Trainer Certification class, offered by Educational Outreach, will give all the information needed to start an exciting fitness career and become a certified personal trainer.

The course is presented by World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.). This hybrid course consists of 15 hours of online lectures and 15 hours of hands-on practical training labs.

9 a.m.-12 p.m.

The cost is $795.

Educational Outreach Offers Microsoft Excel Class, June 4-20

Educational Outreach will offer Microsoft Excel: Beginner Level

5-7 p.m.
June 4-20 on Mondays and Wednesdays

The cost is $129

The course is designed for those with limited or no previous experience with Microsoft Excel. This beginner level course will introduce new users to Excel 2016 with an overview of Excel basics that provides a beginner level foundation of the application.

Learn About Yoga, Course Begins June 5

The Office of Educational Outreach will offer the class, Yoga: History and Practice.

5-6 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 5-July 5
SIUE Vadalabene Center, Room 2304

This beginning yoga class provides the history, fundamentals and principles of yoga. Participants will learn posture alignment, practice breath work through guided demonstration, and reap the benefits of yoga, including improved balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy and better digestion.

The cost is $85 for 10 sessions or $10 per session.
